The place where Buddha attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree...
It was the 31st December 2019... I had the honour to spend the last day of the year in this holy place.
And this was one of the funniest moments ever! A real highlight! Three Buddhist monks sitting on a bank holding a selfie-stick and taking selfies!
I imagined these three men being educated since childhood to become monks, spending hours and hours a day being trained in deep spiritual practices which have the aim to control the mind and get away from the mere ego and from maya, the illusion of reality...
I couldn’t help but smile...
As they saw us staring at them and taking pictures of them they looked at us and started laughing
It’s good not to take life and ourselves too seriously... it’s good to be able to laugh about ourselves and to have fun playing... this is in the end true spirituality... and these monks, yes, they know it for sure!
